The 2023 CRIC Fellows Selections Committee has released answers to questions that have been received regarding the CRIC Fellows Nominations process. To allow time for nominators to consider the answers to these questions, the deadline for submitting nominations has been extended to 5pm Eastern Time on March 14, 2023. Nominations that have already been submitted can be updated until this deadline. No new nominations or changes to nominations will be accepted after the deadline.

1. Should the nominee be made aware that they have been nominated?

Yes. In order to ensure nominations are complete and accurate, the nominees should have the opportunity to review their nomination before it is submitted.

2. Who is not eligible to nominate a Fellow?

CRIC staff and members of the CRIC’s Fellows Selection Committee for 2023 are not eligible to nominate a Fellow.

3. What will the Fellows Selection Committee be looking for in a nomination?

Fellows are individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the research, analytics and insights profession in Canada. These contributions could include, but are not limited, to the development of new methods, approaches and innovations in gathering and using insights that have benefited the profession, significant service to the industry/profession, and contributions to society that have enhanced the positive perception of the industry. Additional details related to each of these criteria are included below:

The development of new methods, approaches and innovations in gathering and using insights that have benefited the profession.

The Fellows Selection Committee will assess the significance of the contribution the nominee has made and the extent to which that contribution was shared with the industry. Was the contribution a minor enhancement or major innovation? Was it widely adopted across the industry? What effort was made to share the contribution with the broader industry? (Presentations, published articles, etc.) Please highlight these achievements in the “Professional Career” section of the nomination form. Please note to be eligible the contribution must have been shared with the industry.

Significant service to the industry/profession.

The Fellows Selection Committee will be looking for examples that demonstrate a long-term commitment to the industry and evidence that demonstrates a major contribution. Did the nominee serve on multiple industry boards and committees? What significant contributions did the nominee make as a volunteer? Please use the “Volunteer Service to the Profession” to highlight major achievements.

Contributions to society that have enhanced the positive perception of the industry.

The Fellows Selection Committee will be looking for major contributions to charities and other professional/industry associations that enhanced the positive perception of the research, analytics and insights industry. The Fellows Selection Committee will be looking at the significance of the nominee’s contribution to society in this role. The Fellows Selection Committee will also be looking for examples of how the nominee represented the research, analytics and insights profession in that role. Did the contribution involve their research expertise? Was it clear to all that they were a representative of the research, analytics and insights industry while making this contribution?

The CRIC Fellows will be announced at the CRIC Future of Insights Summit in June. The new CRIC Fellows will join the Founding Fellows of CRIC who were previously recognized as Fellows by the former MRIA and PMRS. A complete list of CRIC’s founding Fellows is available on the CRIC website.

New CRIC Fellows will be encouraged to use the designation FCRIC.

In addition to receiving the FCRIC designation, CRIC’s partner, CAIP Canada, will also be granting Fellows a life membership in CAIP Canada including the right to use the CAIP designation
